What would cause a John Deere Ryder to keep burning up the Starter. After replacing twice, one the unit is running smoke comes out of the Starter and fries it.

What would cause a John Deere Ryder to keep burning up the Starter. After replacing twice, one the unit is running smoke comes out of the Starter and fries it.

Any input Greatly Appreciated . . . . .

It sounds like the starter relay is getting stuck so the starter motor stays engaged. Or maybe the key switch is staying engaged.
