USFS, Mt Shasta

Erik

The weather finally broke and it's cooling off, the trees are starting to thin out their foliage, but still mostly green. In about 2 weeks time all of my oak and hickory trees dropped an astounding amount of nuts and acorns. The squirrels must be on Cloud 9. A few nights already in the low 50's upper 40's, probably even colder tonight. Might actually fire up the stove this evening.

For some reason this Sugar Maple tree always turns before all the other Sugar Maples off to the left. I get a blast of this color from my window as I descend the steps in the morning. Very pretty. As with all of our pics I'm sure, the photo doesn't do it justice.

The year before this place was loaded with some nice colors but because of the weather in 2017, the color change was behind by about two weeks.

Here are my fall colours, such as they are. Since we're into winter here now, I'll have to wait a year to come up with something better.

There is a bonus woodshed and a kangaroo, though.

Being from North America on the other side of the world in another hemisphere - that image is very surreal to me. Awesome! Roos must be like the deer are over here. They're everywhere and you're just used to it.
