Log splitter

Building a log splitter, powered by a 6.5 hp gas engine. Looking for advice on what type of valve I should be using? What is the difference between a closed center and open center valve? Which should I be using for this splitter?

Choose an off the shelf valve designed specifically for a log splitter. They all have a detent return, open center, and adjustable relief pressure.
