Look at this saw I got from my father in law wanting to see if anyone knows if I ever need parts are there any out there? Should I not use on a mill?

Haha no he is a farmer and only used on big trees on fence lines

Great saw, but only downside is the fuel filler cap on top. You will have to take the saw out completely in case you run out of fuel mid cut. Side mount fuel cap saws are best to avoid that.

So great! Try .404 ripping chain, for my 051av I found that gauge worked a lot better. 40:1 mix you prob. Know. Chain slackened and tune the carb slightly rich if you can. Refuel/re-bar oil after every cut. I’ve run an 051av which shares a lot of the parts (along with ts510/760) but mine is a worn out nag in sick bay compared to what you’ve got there. That is a handy case too. Kick ass Vintage saw & I hope it runs another 35 years or more.

Mill with it. Chainsaw’s weren’t made for museums - but that one is sweet enough looking to be in a museum.

Most experienced cutters ensure oil & fuel is full prior to felling or bucking ! lol.

OP asked about milling; not just cutting. On long cuts, big gas hogs can run empty before the cut is complete. No prob if filler cap is on the side because that’s on the top of the mill when you are in the cut. However, a top filler is onthe side of the mill When in the cut. Can’t fill it without pulling saw and mill back out of the cut. (Or altering the filler spout)

Sorry , milling would consume much more fuel I suppose than routine cutting , good point BSB !
