These things are always a PITA to get off. Several Pioneers use it but I always waist a lot of time removing them. Penetrating oil, heat and a small puller has been my method. Has anyone figured out a better way?

Thanks. Jason.

Are they like the husqvarna 50,51, 55 gears that are pressed into the crankshaft? On those I use a 1/2" iron pipe coupling with 2 notches ground on it for a 2 jaw gear puller to be able to grip it. The pipe thread in the coupling fits the worm gear good enough not to damage it.

Im not sure if its the same as the husky but they are pressed on. I got lucky today and I was able the walk it out a little at a time with a screw driver but not always that lucky. Your idea is a pretty good one. I may have a die that will fit. If so I am certain I will have a puller that will fit.
