My dad bought a PM610 new in the late 80s. Cut alot of firewood with it. I bought one last year that was next to mint for 50$. Its a shelf queen if you can call it that.

My dads 610 still runs.

This one runs good, too. They are, in my opinion, the last “good” saws made by Mac. I love the sound of them.

They used to smoke a lot when you first started them. Mine did. But, it always quit after awhile and then ran quite well. If you can stand that smoke, run it and enjoy the power. Heck, yours may not smoke on startup.
Mine did smoke a lot when I cranked it, but it was out of fuel, and I put 50:1 premix in it to clean it out. I will probably run 40:1 when using it.
