Nice job Tom.

Not sure if the JB repair will hold. It’s good for filling, not great for crack strength.

Tig Welding works the best, obviously not available to you. I’ve fixed quite a few that way.

Thanks mate, nice repair and advice!
I’m hoping that the fiberglass may assist. I’m not sure how it will go when I press in the AV mount. I’ll use lots of press fluid and when it’s in, I won’t take it back out haha

Is it yours? Do you have all the parts or just what is pictured? I’ll take it on as a project if you have all the parts!
Nah I couldn't do it to ya Tom was only joking around lol.
Talking big bucks for parts with 088/880 Stihl saw's a crank alone is over $400 AU..

Update so far, clutch cover has had a number of layers of JB weld, a good sand and then just how had a good few coats of primer. Tomorrow will see a top coat of ford farmer grey.

I have flattened the bar contact area to get that square again too, notice before how worn it was. I was very aware not to go further than necessary because I’d lost width between the plastic chain sliders

Thanks mate, finally after 7-8 layers of JB weld and 7-8 layers of fiberglass, lots of sanding and reshaping the Av mount is complete.will now focus on filling any voids inside the clutch area.
The case half will never be smooth again and the clutch cover looks smoother in these pictures that it really is, but it will be sound and reliable.

oh also, here is the front of the clutch cover

I used a small flat artist's brush with black paint. It'll get a clear coat after drying. But I just used what I had, which made the job more difficult: sprayed everyday rattle can black into a small cup and used that. It starts out too thin and then gets gummy. I guess I should have bought a small bottle of hobby store enamel. Would have been more uniform painting. The clear coat will even it out a bit. The paint needs to be quite dry because the clear will act as a solvent. If you use it, do several dusting coats first before a light wet coat.
