Making sure this is oak before putting it in my smoker

there was steel n this maple log. See the dark marks. there is the other end of the log.

all of this was in a maple tree on my in-laws farm. It was next to the tool shed.

Ok I'm going with untrue aswell on the oak going black on only oak. becuse I cut these pieces in the wood chop saw 3 days ago and now they have a dark black stain on them. This is walnut wood.

I’m going to try and toss it in the smoker and cook some steaks and fish. This is the wood I originally asked about and some thought it was elm. We will see in about 1 hour how the meat turns out. Smoke stack smells pretty good I know oak does this.

Peeled the bark back on some elm and found this. Nothing like the wood above which I’m starting to think it’s oak after moving this wood around today and looking at it better.i know this is trademark oak when it does the lines like this. I sell this wood for a pretty price is why I really wanna know so I can make some money off it. I tossed it in with the normal firewood but figured I’d test it tonight.

Turns out it’s good cooking wood and I think it’s oak. My dad said it was very good and he liked the smoke flavor. I ran out of propane and had to start it with butcher paper and it took a while so it will be definitely more Smokey then normal. The fish took little longer since I’ll cook it to 145 instead of 127. I tossed the steaks in the warming oven for about 5 minutes and they over cooked. Figured it would happen since there skinny steaks

The second pic is where this board set on top of the frame when it was flipped over the other way. I want to note the trailer deck is pine.

And you ad to do all that because they couldnt take your word for it!!!!!!!!! Maybe they should look closer!
