Hi Brian,
Not sure which saw you're referring to, the 1-43 runs flawlessly after the carb took an ultrasonic bath and a new Tillotson carb kit. I will need to get a new cap valve because it's missing.

I'm guessing he's referring to the 7-10 crank seal discussion, not your 1-43. Nice saw, btw.

Get it running and spray the crank seals with carb cleaner and see if it changes RPM. Quick test of the crank seals.

Brian

How would one do that? From underneath? Seems like carb cleaner indiscriminately sprayed in the area of the points on a running saw wouldn't be a very good idea. What could possibly go wrong? LOL

I've got a couple Macs

The point side would be kind of hard to get to, but the PTO side you can get to. A quick check on at least one side. From what my experience has been is the PTO side is the most subsessable to having problems because it has the smallest bearing and the most stress. Also you would not spray a large amount. Just a very small squirt is all it takes. I do this on the intakes of 10 series saws all the time. Usually even the smallest squirt will kill the engine if there is a leak.

Its definately a sellers market right now. I have to admit i just sold that pm800 the other day. I was shocked! The auction started out with a buy it now for 575.00 or starting bid at .99 cents. When it was over the winner paid $1289.99 total!! My wife asked me how many more could we sell? Lol...silly woman. Makes you think about it though.

I think about machines having a life with the user and it's triumphs and failures , it's sad that a great saw will sit on a self for however long before it's glory is forgotten, no one benefits from that.
