For Woodslasher - I have these. The rough looking one has a metal gasket on the back.

This one is for the 3-25, not sure if it fits other models as well.

The rough looking one is a match for the ones I have. Is it still good, or should I try fixing mine?

So started stripping my crook 10-10 tonight was thinking I'll toss the 57cc under the covers for a while.

Thus thing has very clearly not cut anything since a major clean up someone has spent alot of time on it.

Piston seems new. And doesn't match the scoring on the bore. Not alot but it's old
    20191121_214405.jpg

It's got a 3 hole auto pump mount and an alloy manual pump if that helps date its age at all anyone? 20191121_214641.jpg 20191121_214734.jpg
So it runs but not well it spits fuel out its gob real bad I've tried other carbs the carb it had is on a 7-10 and it goes mint.

I'm thinking the points are set wrong?
Anyone else think it's possible? Its spotless inside the box. This old girl has had a big birthday at some stage but never ran right obviously and it got tossed under the bench.

A mk2 ford escort was the last thing I played with the points on every a decade ago. Haven't had to do a 7-10 yet they all run good

Points gap is 0.018". I'd be checking that as well as any shorts in the plug wire. I've come across a few of those. Try another plug as well. Since someone has been in there check to see if the flywheel is the correct one.
I'm assuming it has decent compression and the carb is set up so it's not getting too much fuel.

Thanks Tim yup you're assumptions are true that's where all the flywheel talk a while back came from. I thought carb at first so threw a known goody on and na same same and the carb it had runs a 7-10 well. It doesn't have the best looking spark so could try another plug I spose certainly no harm.

Looking good. I just picked up another pro 10-10 automatic off fleabay that I’ll be tearing into. The wealth of info in this thread is amazing as well as the knowledgeable people. Love it!

Be careful with EBay, it doesn't take an extended search to find chainsaw horror stories, from Ebay.

Awesome yeah it's a great place alright.

Cleaned up the basically NOS 57cc block I'll probably throw under the tank of the old girl. Really just want to try the 10-10S out to be honest and this will be the quickest way

Shaping metal with machine tools. What do you have going on there? I see the lathe with the boring bar in the tool post.

Yeah as with buying anything used on the internet, you have to watch it, risk vs. reward.
I stick to the (for parts/not running) ads and try to keep it under $100 if I can.

The plug wire on your saw doesn't look too good. A couple of burn spots on the insulation. At least tape it up to make sure the spark isn't jumping.

Right on. I’m a machinist at one of the larger fab shops in the PNW. Right now I run the lathe area.
I see the posts about cutting the “squish” and the other machine work that can be done to saws so I had to ask.

Ah true is too yeah I never paid much attention to it to be honest.

Ahh cool dunno if I could handle being at a lathe all day every day but then again if it's interesting stuff though it would be ok.

Yeah not into that stuff yet but will 1 day. Was contemplating skimming the bottom of a mac cylinder down a tad and boring the bearings upward a bit but I haven't even measured the squish yet but could cut a pop up piston also and then see where the ports are at timing wise but it really involves jumping in with all feet and hands

Some days can be boring but we are a job shop so I’m always seeing new stuff and prototype parts. there’s multiple CNC lathes to keep running plus a couple manual lathes so I stay busy.

edit: I am eyeballing the plant maintenance lead position though. I love making stuff but it’s time to transition.

Nice I would of grabbed it for the clutch cover and bar alone nearly. Love that style of clutch cover and those hard nose bars can be resurrected from horrific states.

Even if the cylinder is toasted who cares got some goodies on it

Yep. Bar, clutch cover, starter, oil tank. I couldn’t pass it up. Looks like it will clean up nice if it’s not toasted.

I see a McCulloch Super 33 kicking around online. It shows it's age for sure.
Is this a gear drive? Owner wants $125 CAN for it.
