I think I remember a discussion about that now. No harm in trying the hot water trick before messing with the actual jet. 'Course you'll need a kit either way. I like my cheapie USC for stubborn carbs. Paid for itself with the first carb it revived.

Could stiff diaphragms be a culprit too?

What sort of USC you got Poge? Wouldn't mind 1 someday when funds allow. Would be handy for push bike parts too
 
It's a cheap Chicago Electric from Harbor Freight. About all it's good for is carbs and small parts. You can find them cheaper if you shop around. I've had mine for over 5 years and have run the snot out of it. I also did a timer hack that lets it run continuously instead of the shorter intervals it's designed to use. Would love one of the other larger ones that have become pretty popular lately, but this one has served me well and still does for the smaller items.

This one showed up via fedex today. It is complete and turns over but it is in rough shape. Lots of white death in and around the carb box and fuel tank. It will likely need a fuel tank. It will definitely be getting a full teardown. It is a shame because it doesnt looks as though it was used a lot.

Also, would anyone know how many drive links of .404 I would need for this bar. I'm thinking of running it on my 1-52 but nobody around here stocks .404 so I need to know how much I need.

I bought a short roll of .404 off the trading post, 25' for less than 90$ , I'm in the same boat as you with it being stocked.

I use my USC all the time I clean my carbs first then when water gets to dirty for carbs I clean the rest of the parts
pretty much cleaned my whole PM 60 in it some parts were to big for the cover to be on and I have to flip them.
I use the air hose and parts washer first of course
 
Mark, you have a nice selection of chain. The 35 I am working on now has what I think is 1/2 inch chain and a 16 inch hard nose bar. One thing good is after cleaning the chain it looks almost new. It will mostly be a display except for when Ron uses it. But I still want it to be able to start and run if I take the want to run it or someone comes into the shop and wants to hear it run.

Did McCulloch legit have their own chain? Or was it rebranded? I think Homelite chain for example is Oregon right? Even though it has their emblem stamped on it instead of saying Oregon.

Pretty sure it was there own chain. Wonder what happened to the machinery.

Pretty much seems like the PMs got aluminium everywhere as well as ditching the nice touches of the starter and clutch cover logos.

So the way it seems to me is black and decker tightened the belt big time in that era. Seems I read hear and there of layoffs about then too.

Also learned that yes magnesium sounds different aluminum goes ting ting but mag goes click click

Also learned that yes definitely need an SP81
