The Pro Mac 1010s is alive well. Turned out the first replacement coil was also bad. Thanks to Heimannm for a good coil. I noticed the bad coils were gray plastic while the good coil is brown plastic - see photo. Maybe a trend with the gray ones? I was going to shoot a video but ran out of time. The saw wanted to die when I turned it on it's side so I suspected an air leak. Pressure/Vac test was good so I checked into the carb for possible flooding. One carb kit later and all is well. Video will come at a later date. Thanks to All for the input and suggestions, especially Heimannm and Maintenance Supervisor.

I am working on a SP70 for a customer. I need to take apart the kill switch, what is the best way to access it? Of all the Macs I've worked on, I've never had to mess with the kill switch lol. It has intermittent loss of spark, no problem with the kill wire disconnected.

I've got a 1-41 that I've been fiddling with & today I put it back together & got spark.The saw is supposed to take a J8J plug,but I can't seem to locate them.Can I use a J8C in it's place?

I would think that it would be just like the other antivibe saws and disconnect from coil.

Yes, J8C will work, it is slightly longer.
You can also use a CJ8 but it uses a 3/4 socket instead of 13/16

So much for having spark.I'm done with the points & condenser on that saw.Tomorrow I'm putting a chip on it.This is the 3rd time the saw had spark then went away.New points, new condenser, coil tested by Bob J.3 strikes.

Kevin - You will have to remove the throttle trigger by driving out the spring pin that retains it. It will then be possible to access the screw to disconnect the wire and release the slide operator.

I'm thinking of getting a 10-10S,but it doesn't have a carb on it.Supposedly the 10-10S used a Walbro SDC44A,were there any other carbs that were used on the 10-10S?Better yet,are there any other carbs that can be substituted? (like the SDC88?)
Yeah Ed, the sdc44a ,sdc65, really any but the early smaller bore sdc carbs and they would probably suffice.
Obviously the adjustments for the carb are in the tank with the jet boot so finding a carburetor with the long or small diameter heads would be in your best interest. Also its important to note if the idle screw is in the tank or on the carburetor, it's ok to have both .

I stopped in my Stihl dealer's shop that has a back room full of old saws. I bought a Pioneer 700, Homelite XL850, and an Echo 750 EVL. I had never seen any Mac's in his shop before. There was a ladder across one set of shelves with several on it that I couldn't see. It was dark in there and all I had was a dying flash light. But, what I could see was a 250, 140, and one of the old real skinny Mac's I forget what model they are, any help on those? He wants $25 apiece for them. The next time I stop in I'm going to take a better light and see if I can move the ladder so I can get down that row of shelves with the Macs. Should I get all 3 of the above mentioned saws?

When you say "in the tank"are you referring to the fuel tank or the air box?

The 250 would be good for that price depending if it's in good condition with the P&C.The other 2 I'd try to talk him down to about $15 each.If it were me I wouldn't even bother with the 140 unless you're going to chip it & are good with MDC carbs.
