It makes it a bit harder $ wise to move to the western states because what you sold your home for in the midwest would get you
much less of a home out there.

I was just trying to stay or of trouble. :innocent:

In any case, I can't imagine why anyone would move to California, but my sister told me that if you're a musician, it's the place to be if you want to work and mingle with the serious players.

Because I am the very worst kind of political weasel, and I live next to modern day Rome, I know a great deal about American history and politics.

I was simply trying to be polite in the friendly section of the site. :)

    Excellent, thank you. :)

I'm about to pop some fries in the oven and I'll have to see what else I'm having. Hope you have a good dinner tonight.

    Dang!!

I'd jump on that in a heartbeat if I could. Kitchen remodel and fresh paint all around and you've just made 1/2 million.

Depends on who's looking for me.....and why.
My wife likes to watch House Hunters on tv. I've watched it with her at times. Never fails to amaze me at some of the prices they get in CA., for dumps they call homes.

I guess million dollar fixer uppers are quite common. :dizzy:

They are fairly common. A lot of them were bought in the 60s and 70s for pennies on the dollar and the old folks are dying off. Some of them are trashed at this point and all the value is in the "land."

But, CA is a tale of have's and have nots. Around the coast, LA, and the Bay Area the housing prices are crazy. Go to the central valley and much of the mountainous regions and you have much less valuable real estate. There's about six million people living below the poverty line in CA. Think about how many people that is. That's more than the populations of 30 states.

You left out Tahoe, that’s a whole different category! I loaned my son a substantial down payment on a house in Tahoma on the south west side of the lake, he lost it in the recession of 2009 along with my loan. The loan was for more than I paid for our house and 2 acres we added later. Real estate here has been a roller coaster for the last 30 yrs, it’s almost time to cash in!

Yes! I did forget about Tahoe. Tahoe is the very extreme, but the place is so spectacular that it's kinda worth the money.

Sorry to hear about your son losing your cash like that. Hopefully he's making payments...

He is, child support. The grandkids are great, and he’s on to bigger and better things, doing the best he can. We both lived and are still learning.
