wondering what the difference is between motomix and non ethanol 90 gas mixed with stihl 2 cycle oil and maybe some stabil mixed in for good luck.

What is it that is special about motomix cuz it sure is costly but it seems to work wonders from all the threads where it is mentioned.

The difference between pump fuel and motomix (alcylate fuel) are the ingrediends. You can have a look on this website from Aspen alcylate fuel and learn more about it and the difference to pump fuel. The most importand thing is that alcylate fuel has a lot of less dangerous toxic ingredients as pump fuel. It also contains no ethanol and can be stored for a very long time without a significant loss in quality, and it is also better for the components of the fuel system from the machine where it is used.

Also have a look on the file attached about information on Motomix.

Motor mix & other brands of Alcylate fuel are good if the saw stands for long periods between use & your fuel contains Ethanol, & takes a long time to use up. In a commercial setting using a lot of 2T mix & working the saw at least 5 days a week & at least 4hrs a day with non E fuel It is not really needed, & the cost for paid for profit logging the cost is a deal breaker The difference to us would be in the region of 400/500Euro's a month depending on the job in extra fuel cost.

We sell it to the home owner that uses less then 5L of fuel in a season and whatever is left over it is stable for storage. Even the pros buy it at the end of the season they will run it in the equipment and then shut it down for the winter slumber. We constantly are running out of the Motomix and the Aspen ( 2 cycle and 4 cycle ) since the quality of the fuel is going down. All winter as part of the service package aspen fuel was put into snowblowers because we could not predict when the next snow fall would be. In Generators/inverters Aspen was what we used to PDI the units. Stable for 5 years it is cheap insurance in ones genny! I see no problem with e-free fuel used up before 90 days or reg e-fuels used up within 30 days. ( this is what we have found YMMV )

These alkylate fuels have lower emissions than normal gasoline, so biggest benefits would be for those who work for living with gas powered tools. Here in Finland alkylate fuel is sold with and without 2 stroke oil in four liter cans.
I have a local gas station which sells this " un-oiled " version of alkylate fuel straight from pump, and price per liter is half what is asked for four liter cans.

av gas is OK if your saw runs at 2800 rpm, Marathon REC90 (USA) runs really well and cost effective and no ethanol.

I just bought 16 1 litre bottles of the 4 stroke type without oil in it for ~1/2 of the regular price. Just add some full synthetic two stroke oil and good to go! Put it into my TH saw because it fullfill's the "seldom use saw" criteria. Ran two refills through it this mornig to be sure the system is fully flushed.
