I won a new MS 261 at BuckinStock last weekend and wanting to figure out the best set up. I use saws for clearing trees on property for firewood. I am just trying to figure out best length bar and type of chain. Is it worth having the saw ported, exhaust work etc ? Thank for your help...In Ohio and hardwoods for wood burning stove. Thanks again

Personally, I would go 16" .325 and get a 70cc saw with a 24" bar to pair with it.

I like a 18" on my 261C-M but I also run it with a 20" from time to time and it does just fine.

Congrats, wish I could have made it this year, 18 was a blast.

Anyway I liked 18" bar with .325 full chisel chain. That's a good smooth setup and you can handle some pretty good size rounds. The 261 is a really nice saw, and really seems to wake up with the good muffler mod.
