Looking for some input. I am in the market for a 661. I am trying to decide on a 661 R which I can buy locally with a 1 year warranty or the 661 arctic from Dave (chainsawguy) . The arctic would come with a 3 month warranty but would have to be sent back to BC for service. I am on the east coast. What say you? Price is about the same.

Homeowner pro saws are 1 year warranty, commercial use is 3 months. would would the seller not just register the saw as homeowner. That being said the warranty does not apply if you import the saw. Like when people buy a new car from the states they save some bucks but lose the warranty.

I have a 2003 BMW R1150RT motorcycle. It came stock with lo/hi position heated grips.

Since I've never used them, I'm not even sure they work. And yes, I ride year-round, roads / weather conditions permitting.

It'll be a cold day in Hell before I get out to cut wood in the dead of winter, heated bars on a chainsaw or not.

So wait, why don't you use the heated grips on the bike??

Well boy my addiction runs deep I guess....I cut all year round.... Hell if I go more than a week without cutting a load of wood, my woman would BEG me to go, I would be miserable(and also feel bad for neglecting my saws!!!)...

I absolutely love cutting when it's 20-50 degrees outside, hate cutting in the heat of summer.....

Plus if you start getting to cold, just take another nip of grandpas cough medicine, warm ya back up in no time LOL....

I've had so many bikes over the course of my life, I can't count them all. Never had one with heated grips......until I bought my BMW.

Old habits are hard to change. If my hands get cold, I wear insulated gloves. Never had a bike with a heated seat either. That was an option on my bike that I quickly dismissed.

An uncle has ridden the RTs for years. I think he's on his 4th. Cousin on other side on 2nd big LT. They go out of their way to jab me about my Road King.

My 2003 1150RT is my 1st BMW motorcycle. At this point in my life, it'll also be my last. It's been an okay bike, but nothing spectacular. I was curious about BMW's for years and decided that I had been wondering long enough.

No BMW dealer where I live. The closest is in Phoenix, and that's about 115 or so miles away. The dealer I bought mine from no longer sells them. I've had mine serviced at another dealer, and they were big-time over-charging SOB's.

Anyways, I'm still of the mindset, that the best motorcycles in the world, be it on or off-road, are made in Japan.

The only way you will catch me running a saw in the summer is if absolutely necessary (hurricane clean up etc) love the colder weather.

I have to cut in summer because that's when the tornadoes and thunderstorms roll through. Winter is much better. It doesn't hurt to get cold. Swatting mosquitos, while running a saw, could hurt a lot.

There was a thread somewhere with the heated handle conversion, or a comparison of the parts involved between the heated vs non heated versions. Any direction is appreciated.

I have a list started already- looking like in the ~$500 range for the handle, flywheel, stator/ generator, etc. But still would appreciate a comprehensive parts list. Maybe recommendations on someone to sell the parts to me. Used and working is OK. Maybe a used and working Ms661 Arctic for the right price?
