I have a Makita UC3020A electric Chain saw.
My chain does not move freely on the bar so to sharpen it I have to remove it.

Is this normal for an electric corded Chain saw or is there something wrong?

It's a pain having to remove the chain to sharpen it.

Thanks for your help

Mike

No clutch on the electric saw - should move but not easily.

The brake is released and it's the original bar and chain.
I tried again but there is no movement at all even with the chain off I can't move the drive sprocket at all.

so thanks for your replies at least I know it's probably most if not all electric chainsaws will be the same.

I suppose battery ones will be the same as well?

thanks again

I have a corded Poulan saw that I bought at a garage sale. It appears to be unmolested and the chain moves freely by hand.

thanks but I cant move the drive sprocket even with the chain off. it's rock solid.
But it runs fine in use!
