Driven by Cranes build....

tapatalk_1558737795954.jpg

I've been on the lookout for a suitable chassis to mount my SS onto. I wasn't particularly interested in putting the time into what Crane did, I wanted more of a plug and play option. Along comes what's called a roofing cart/wagon/trailer on FB marketplace. The seller and I couldn't reach a deal so I bought a new one.

Im hoping to get the transformation done this holiday weekend.

The bonus is that I can pin it to the back of my compact running gear and have my splitting station wherever its convenient. Itll be like this, but connected.

All in all, pretty simple project. I'm going to install a piece of plywood under the splitter for tool storage.

Once I get some time on it, I'll figure out if the frame is going to be a hindrance to being a comfortable distance from the splitter. I think if I put a pool noodle on it, it would actually be comfortable to lean against.

Good plan. Did you give any thought in mounting it the other direction so the wood falls off the back? That way the tongue wouldn’t be in the way and you can just move it forward as the wood piles up behind it.

So after finally getting all my wood processed, I turned to moving the splitter over on the wagon.

I cut out the welds and moved it over...

Into an extended work table.

@chipper1 was generous enough to part with some of his locust that I've been trying to get for awhile. Just now getting to it and trying out the improvements.

Working position is much more comfortable and the additional work area is perfect. The spot on the table side at the end is just right for a helper to work.
