Does anyone know what type of tree this is? I'm in Austin, TX, but I don't believe this is a native tree.

Hmmm, the Ficus's I looked up on google have a completely different type of bark/trunk. Also these leaves have slightly jagged edges where as the Ficus ones I saw were smoother and more waxy.

It's been suggested to me that it could be some type of cherry tree, but there's a million different types of cherry trees and I can't find one that matches.

The way the leaves come off of the stem in a bloom-type pattern is what is making this really hard for me to identify and I couldn't find any cherry trees that had those type of blooming leaves.

That is most defiantly not a ficus. Ficus have smaller rounder leaves. They also always have white bark and white sap. They get very tall and slendor.
