Piston comes today supposedly.
I have some Motoseal to put it back together.

So the list of things to do:
1. Fill and test the crankcase...looking for the ground electrode from the spark plug
2. Clean up and install piston, cylinder, plug etc.
3. Weld up a muffler mod somehow. I only have 1" tubing here. Thinking that might be too large.
4. Fix bar oil leak

I also need to fix my tractor today too. Busy day.

OK I feel like I'm learning a new language every time someone posts.

What does masterminding the cylinder mean?

I can chamfer my ports.

Why use a base gasket. I'm reading a bunch if opinions to do a squish test but it will likely warrant removing the gasket to increase compression.

Thinking of the muffler mod. Should be simple. Just missing some steel pipe to vent the holes.
That saw should be 19-21 thousands without a base gasket which will be better

So good thing you guys suggested I fill the crank case.

I found this.

Could it be the ground strap that has somehow straightened out?

Also would it be OK to reuse the husqvarna wrist pin retainers?

The new ones are pretty difficult to get in there. All I have are needle nose pliers

Best to use clips WITHOUT ears (or cut the ears off). Also make sure that the gap in the clip points either up or down in line with the piston travel.

OK so I'll take the old ones and get them in there. Point them at 12 or 6 o'clock and then cut the ears off.

Got it thanks.

I cleaned out the crank case.
I used the motoseal on both surfaces and got the cylinder back on. Wasn't the easiest job without disturbing the motoseal but I think it'll hold. I probably used too much anyway.

I did a squish test for multiple corners and I saw roughly 0.020, 0.019, 0.021 and 0.018.
I think I'm in the sweet spot.

The intake side is back on the chainsaw.
I'm letting the gasketmaker dry.

I may try and tackle the MM tonight. I'll def post pics of that. Looks fun.

I haven't fixed the bar oil seal yet.
I have a chainsaw tachometer coming this Sunday so I need to learn how to tune this thing.

Make sure you recover the ears if you snip them. I prefer to reuse oem myself.

Good thing you flushed the case that chunk would have grenaded the new parts

You can just cut up an old socket to make a clutch tool for these saws.
I was thinking about it. I had a 13mm ready to go and then I thought about the next time I was looking for a socket and for some reason that would be the exact one I'd be missing.

Amazon is delivering it (clutch tool) on Sunday. I'll probably lose it by Monday but at least I'll have that 13mm socket.

Those clips are spring steel and one use only as the heat ruins the temper.

your saw, but I would never re-use circlips. Ever.

oops, just noticed you got it back together. It might be just fine.

pretty aggressive muffler mod...

chinese mufflers to fit that saw are 20 bucks and a good piece. You'll be needing one I think.

:innocent:
