What about painting the covers matt black.

If you want black covers or plastic, don't paint them. Use RIT dye and dye them.

I like orange saws for a reason, ha ha. If I was to paint anything I might paint the light orange piece white to match the fuel tank and rear handle. I’m not a fan of matt black on anything so that won’t be happening.

New covers ain't going to make it run better. Money is better spent elsewhere.

Replace some wear items instead. Did rebuild replace rubber parts? AV mounts good? Clutch bearing and drive sprocket? Air/fuel filters? New RS chain..........

being in Australia a new 404 RM chain would probably suit better.

Ok good people, it’s update time. I pulled the new clutch off and it appears to be an 066. No oil hose on the oil pump.

This is the old type choke lever that it has. Is it an old 066 style or is an 064 choke lever like this. I’ve never seen one like it.

Same same with regards to the control rod. You have a fine example of an early 066.
