Nice find. I have a 181 se that’s really clean too. It was missing a stop switch, the clutch cover. Now I need to rebuild the carb.

I have one with brand new piston, rings, jug, carb and bad crack bearings. Think it’s worth throwing crank bearings in this 181 or should I chuck it?

Absolutely you should repair it these are fantastic saws and were really a game changer for husqvarna when they replaced the 480cd
Bearings aren’t too bad to do in these

Blank off the governor or you will never get her up to 12500rpm
I actually have 4 of these 181’s
NOS 1986
Mint thin ring 1984
1982 beater with new k&s cylinder
1987 - army edition
They are probably my favorite husky saw

I dunno, that's a nice pristine 181. I would leave it as it is. it will certainly get the job done.
I think I confused you with nighthunter, the other Irish man, for a moment there. He was looking for a 281 not long ago.
Where are ya located? I'm in Wicklow and I work occasionally in Waterford.

I’m not touching my first 181se it’s orginal and mint. Sitting for decades never ran.
