I have an old stihl 041 farmboss (guessing 25-30 years old) that needs a new tillotson carb. It is currently getting some tlc and the repair facility noted the carb is beyond repair. Their parts distributors cannot even get a replacement and they told me I may be able to find one online via ebay or salvage and to look for an HS 138B.
I started searching and have found several similar carbs and was unsure if a different tillotson may work in its place.
I found an HS 181B and HS 138A that appear to be identical based on the web pictures. My question is would one of the alternates work in place of the HS 138B?
The old saw was my dads and I would really like to get it going again, not just for nostalgic purposes but for practical use as well.
