I have access to a bunch of blown down red oak from last years ice storm but in front of it all was this blow down. I cut it up a brought it home but I don't know what it is, any help would be appreciated. It's heavy and didn't cut as easily as the ash and red oak I cut but it split easily with the fiskars. Tx!

SE Pa. I just have no clue on this and really appreciate the help

Why does everyone have to post super blurry photos of wood they find on the side of the road. You brought it home....split it and burn it.

Firstly I'm curious and not as knowledgeable as most on the site and I'm trying to learn. Second I'd just like to know if I stack it for next year or two yrs down the road. I took some more pics if that may help. Tx

that's red maple. Sometimes it grows in swamps or is swamp adjacent. It's a mainstay of my supply. One year seasoning from the splitstump and it's super wood. Not as good as sugar maple, but scores better than silver.
