I am trying to choose the perfect patio tree. I live in NE Florida (Jax) which is zone 9 and am looking for a small evergreen tree without fruit in a nice shape for a large patio area. Would like to plant something different than the usual for this area. Does anyone have any ideas that could help me? Thanks in advance for any help. Pam

How about an Arbor Vitae? My mom has 2 planted off the corners of her back porch. Low maintenance, not too messy.

Here's my two cents worth:

Chinese Holly - Ilex cornuta Burford
American Holly - Ilex opaca
Southern Red Cedar - Juniperus silicicola
Chinese Fan Palm - Livistona chinensis
Lady Palm - Rhapis excelsa
Pindo or Jelly Palm - Butia capitata

Check out some local nurseries for availability or more ideas.
