Picked up some Sugar Maple and Ash the other day.

2nd photo, left log - Heartwood looks awful dark for sugar maple. Looks more like cherry.
It does look a bit like cherry on the inside, but the bark is wrong.
It's really heavy and having worked with lots of Cherry I found it heavier than the Cherry.
He also said there was Bitternut Hickory in the mix so it could be that.
I bet it's Hickory.

Looks like the same half round from the first pick just turned over. Sure looks like Hickory to me.
