Thanks for that Steve, I now see an Edit Post button next to Reply With Quote which I have not see before. I wasn't aware of the time limit for an edit that may well be why I have never seen it before. I don't make many post so that may be my issue.

Sorry. It's just painful. We do our best to repay them for what they give us for free.

View attachment 311547 Rufus and my dad. Rufus is my 9yo lab and Airedale mix. loves the woods and always goes with me. My dad is my other cutting buddy. Gotta keep him in wood for his house. Sitting on an oak log that snapped off at the base from a storm. lot of good cutting that day and Rufus ended up with a bunch of cockleburs and a good soaking from his multiple trips to the creek to cool off. Love that dog. He just road tripped to the U.P. with me to see grandma in her assisted living home. Loved swimming in Green Bay. Currently is snoring on the floor beside me. I feel for you guys that have lost your best friends. These guys are always by our side and it's a damn sad day when they aren't there. Chin up boys, while they can't be replaced, there are a lot out there that need our love. If I had the space and means, the dog rescue near me would be empty. Man's best friend, more like man's best four legged brother.

I hate to break it to you guys, cos I know a lot of you feel the loss of each other's cutting buddies keenly; it's one of the things that makes arboristsite special, there's a lot of heart and feeling here. But that sad day came when the supervisor passed on from adenocarcinoma, a type of cancer — Aug. 8. A vet was on his way to the house to put him to sleep, but the Supervisor (Koda) never did like vets or the needle much and passed on just before the vet arrived. He went on his own terms, the way he did a lot of things, on his own terms. It was a tough few months, and you're never completely over it,when you've had one who was so close for 12 years. There were and still are a lot of tears, and I doubt I even had the strength to post this here for this long while, as it brings a lot flooding back.Nearly 4 months later there is a new addition to the family, photos to follow some time, but for now, I just wanted to pay tribute to, and thank this amazing dog who graced my wife's and my own life.

So sorry for your loss. It always makes me tear up a bit when I hear of things like this cause it makes me think of lost partners, and the future loss of my current best bud. My last was my Lab who made 16 years of my life a great joy, and now my 6 year old Rottie who has stepped up to fill those paws , and exceeded in many way to be the best, best buddy I have ever had.

Never gets any easier, I still look for our ol choc lab to greet me growling at the door when I slip in too late. He was like my brother growing up. Didnt have access to a bunch of friends. Love my dogs. People think Im crazy. But theyve never let me down.
