Just picked this up and he said it not oiling right. It came with almost new woodlanpro timbermax bar with the number wptm 24 hu50 f8 stamp on it. I had to pry the bar off because it was tight on the the studs. The saw runs and pumps oil. I think the bar is wrong. In my research I did not find alot of information. I tried a lot of bars I have but none seem to fit. So what bar fits these old saws. The studs Mic at .375 which is 3/8 right?

That Woodland Pro bar is not the correct bar. That said like said above the D007 mount is the right bar. The only thing is though, you had to pry the bar off because the Woodland Pro bar is for a Husqvarna that used 9mm studs while the Poulan Pro used 3/8 studs. The bars slots are usually a bit oversized but I'm still surprised someone got it on the saw.

All said though, the bar should still be oiling ok because the tail of those bars are the same profile and the oil hole is in the same location. Did you clean the bar groove out and make sure the oiler hole is not blocked? Are there bar plates installed incorrectly? Fact's are if you file the slot out on that bar a little it should be fine to use.

Me to it was a tight fit for sure. I haven't ran the saw with the bar on it. I'm just going to file the slot to make it fit. It's a good running saw, sounds mean. It pumps oil fine. Mm how do you like these saws?

I like those saws pretty good, I had a 405+ one time but traded it to a guy who was collecting all the Pioneer based Poulan pro's. I have also had the Pioneer versions. That said, they are very strong saws but pretty heavy for the 65cc they are.

The Husqvarna D009 bars are actually a good replacement for them as they carry the same drive link count as the original D007 bars. Homelite D196 bars are a exact fit replacement but use a different drive link count then original.

I just like the sound of the reed valve engines. That 041 kept us warm for many years. My dad brought it new in the 80s. My first saw I rebuilt. I'm impressed with 405 for sure. Looking for an old echo to go with it.
