Mk starting to learn these saws a bit so when did the poulan name ditch the bigger cc properly built saws? I kinda thought 90s was it and husky n jred got the good stuff. Theres older 'doesnt go" poulans getting biffed out and abused all the time cos of the perceived rubish name theve gotten now at the big box stores and what not. I guess what im getting at is witch ones do I need to be trying to save? I really have no idea about plastic saws.
Mag case Poulan and Pros are good saws. The plastic saws can be made into a good runner, may not last 30 years though. I've got a 06 Wild Thing that runs great, dad has one NITB, about 7 years old. May ask for it one day.

Still seems to let a fair few psi's hiss past. Never tested it but my macs kinda stop solid when pulling over slowly and this turns over relatively easy in comparison.
So even the late box store stuff can be ok then mk they dont have 60 plus cc's any more though
But you can make that 42cc run with a muff mod, better chain and better tuned. I stuck a semi skip chain on the Thing in big wood and she never boggs, just keeps on moaning along never missing a beat. Standard non safety chain in pine.

Don't know how good the 50cc model Poulan is, never looked or ran one.

Nice man my 1st saw when i was 18 was a top handle poulan of some sort i dont remember. A hundred pulls and sometimes it would go. Poor thing prob only needed a carb kit
Or two feet of fuel line replacement. I've learned to not run them dry. The ones I run stay fuel and I start them ever so often to keep them running good.

Easy saws to work on. Oil tank pressure valve can be rebuilt or replaced, member on here builds them, very, very nice I might add.

I was thinking of a check valve near the fuel filter to keep fuel in that long line. Never got around to it.

Another 415 runner after quick check over.
Replaced plug, clutch bearing, washer and e-clip and chain brake set up. Was told reason they quit using it 2 years ago chain brake wouldn't work anymore.
Has the 505 worm gear in it instead of the metal 415 475 one. Wonder if someone had done the 475 updated oiler set up. Still have 2 NOS ones.

I thought of a check valve also, very limited room, but never thought of one near the filter.

Haha "ugh" says it all. Even mac guys dont like the mini.

The mac minis are a pain to work on but fine saws if you play a bit ... And yes Steve is still waiting on a video! LOL
