I posted this in the chainsaw section also. I am looking for a “big saw” project. I don’t really want a saw that is totally destroyed with a blown crank etc. I more looking for a top end issue, carb issues, problems like that.

Thanks in advance!

Well I did read your post I have a running rod slapper that I use once in a blue moon for about 20 minutes at a time she runs really good just a weird cackle to the sound if interested let me know she has full wrap etc

I have a 288 that runs but has something wrong with it where it's running lean. We put a new carb and crank seals on it.

Did you mean 088?

288. You said you were looking for a big cc saw for a project. It's 87cc.

It came in the shop to get a chain or something like that but it was hosed, like zero compression. I ended up fixing it and ran it for a while till it started having issues.

Tinkered with it a while and never got it sorted out. Decided my time was better spent on other projects so it's sat since.

I’m a Stihl guy. I didn’t know Husqvarna had a 288.

I'm not an expert by any means on them but I think the 390 is the modern replacement for it.

I run whatever, not fussy. Same with trucks. Have had most all brands.
