I ordered several Oregon 72LPX chains lately for the various bar lengths I have (16,20,24,28 and 36in) and some come with every other driver being a "paddle" (correct word?) driver and some have the regular drivers.

One of the three 16" chains came with every other driver being a paddle style, the three 20" chains didn't, 28" didn't, 36" did.

My question is: Does the driver type make much difference?

Thanks in advance,
Longwood

Someone will correct me, but I think Oregon did away with the stabilization links because they weren't cleaning the groove out. You probably have some old chain and new.

The rounded drive links have been discontinued but there is supply in the pipeline that has not cleaned out yet. Especially LPX chain which is not as common as LGX here. We didn't have much of an issue with the rudder links here but Oregon said they didn't want any bad feedback so it's gone.
