Question for the CB owners

I have a classic edge 350. Is their a reason they used a rubber door gasket on these? I’m wondering if I can replaced the upper door gasket with rope instead of rubber. The bottom ash door is a rope gasket?

There really isn't a reason you couldn't do it as long as you can make it seal well. I've actually entertained doing that myself. It seems like you replace one a year.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking I can’t seem to find a reason why they went with a rubber seal. I’m going to call one of my local guys today and ask him what he thinks

Did you ever try the rope? Was doing some work on the stove and thought about this.

The rope is made out of high heat fiber. Almost all other products in California are illegal. If your pregnant mother eats the rubber gasket she could get cancer. Maybe Thanks
