Question on piston size, 028AV Super

My piston roughly, as I don't have my calipers home, measures 38 mm. Whats up? Most everything I see is more like a 42 or 44

028 Super is 46mm. 028 is 44mm IIRC. 024 is 42mm, 026 is 44mm.

Some very early metal tank 028’s were 42mm. As above, supers are 46mm.
