Can this be successfully deployed with only one hand, like a CAT?
It can be done, but it's a lot harder. Here's some good info on TQ's. https://www.activeresponsetraining.net/the-best-tourniquets-a-research-review To sum it up, get one that's Co-TCCC (Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care) approved. The RATS is not.
EMS response moved away from the thin tourniquets long ago. They can cause significant tissue damage often requiring more amputation later. Material should be at least 1-1/2" wide. In an emergency could it save a life, sure but at what cost.
