I got a redbud tree of about 8 inches in diameter and maybe 20 feet tall. It has issues with the bark and I don’t know what is causing it. I pulled a piece of bark off and found a bit of web, but it could just be a spider found a convenient place to lay her eggs. The tree takes up a prime place in the center of my front yard and the people I bought the place from planted it there. I want to cut it down an plant peach trees on either side of where this tree is but the wife said “No, I like the flowers.” I need some help on convincing her this tree is not in good shape and needs to go based on the bark damage. Last trees I cut down were Bradford pears and once she got a smell of the flowers it was a go on getting them gone! The redbud is a bit different because of the flowers coming on before anything else and the bees coming for the blossoms. I like the tree but the fact it takes up the center of that part of the yard puts a damper on planting more fruit trees. Any info is appreciated, thanks.
