Hello all,

Is it okay to cut a redwood root that is 4 1/2 inches in diameter And about 15 1/2 feet away from the trunk? The tree is a multi-trunk (3 trunks) tree and is about 100 feet tall. The width of the three trunks is about 5 1/2 feet.
The reason for doing this is to stop this root from causing more foundation and plumbing problems.

Thanks.

If your ok w shoots popping up from the cut for the life of the tree then its probably fine. redwoods are the worst to deal with when It comes to sucker growth.
