Ambient temps aren't as much a factor as dirty cooling fins.
Oven cleaner does a heck of a job cleaning them...no good on painted surfaces.
I was surprised how clean my engine was once I got the flywheel off.
I pressure washed and did some paint touch up today on the chipper. Went and opened the box with the new shiny engine and muffler, my plans are now foiled, No Exhaust gaskets, or exhaust stud nuts. Send an engine, new muffler and then forget the hardware. I feel like Rodney Dangerfield.

Well it’s been quite the adventure. Went to put things together and realize they didn’t send the exhaust manifold gaskets or flange nuts. Spent yesterday running around getting parts only to remember the drive pulley I left at home 2hrs away.
Hopefully someone can tell me what OD that pulley is. I know the crank diameter is 1-7/16”. At least I have a new Vermeer belt I bought a few years ago with me. Now I’ll have to call around this morning to try and source a pulley once I figured out what it is

Thanks for that Dave, this ol Kohler has treated me so good besides me replacing the lifters twice, stator and new flywheel, because the magnets had all moved and Taryl on you tube I’m sure what having his teeth fixed to what they are now back then so he hadn’t shared with the world about that repair when I needed it bsck in 06’ ... so I’d thought about the Honda and likely without a ton of Research on shaft heights and diameters then mounting hole location, I just priced out a 27HP CH7300019 KROLER (as Taryl calls it) and up here in Canada $3860, but to “special order” the identical CH25 that’s the original on it now, 2-3 months and $4500. And let’s not forget ONLY 13% tax over and above that. So ya soon as I’m done sending this I’m gonna go jump the chipper again and do some testing. If I can keep it going for now I’m fine with that. While it’s on my mind, this engine over the years, being my auto feed has never worked (since i got it 2yrs old) But you load that engine down Hard before you stop the feed and let it pick back up again, that engine would knock so hard you’d swear it’s gonna come apart.. yet shut it off and immediately fire it back up and it would smooth right out. Against the advice of Canada Power I started running straight SAE 50 and that solved it. Of course I lighten the viscosity up once it starts cooling down in the fall but have you guys ever come across that right these model Kohlers, I mean Krolers??
I put an CH25 on my old BC620 and it's great before I sold it to my friend. Now I have a Bandit 250 and 65. The 25 hp Kohler on the 65 died recently and I'm in the process now to put a 37 HP Kohler on it and it'll be kick ass machine (only $2800 delivered). Not sure if the 6' Vermeer can handle that kink of power. Erwin

Well ya that’ll be wow plenty of power....

I finally replaced my old tired out CH25 command pro with this new CH752 (27HP) and I honestly still can’t believe how much more power this new one has. I Never run anythjng bigger than 4” max through my 2004 BC 625A and the guys from Repower Specialists said the CH25 that was advertised as 25hp was actually only 23.5 but this new 27 is I mean unbelievable how effortlessly it chews brush (always keep my knives like my saws, Razor sharp) I’ve worked around many big chippers over the years and being I don’t take on any big removals anymore, there’s enough money to be made doing smaller jobs, in and out and way less stress on my body... point is i have Absolutely no need for a big chipper especially the weight of it behind my 1 ton 3500 Cummins dodge, the extra fuel it burns compared to this 625 where I burn less than $5/day in gas....i don’t care what 6” chipper anyone has I’ll put this one I have up against any machine in its class.. not bragging, just stating facts ;-)
No way, at least my chipper wouldn’t benefit from any bigger engine than this kick A** CH752. It’s a absolute Perfect power/size/weight combo to the BC625 platform but hey sounds like you got a good deal on your engine. Mine was $2250 plus shipping. The entire team at Repower Specialists are fantastic, great service and they know their stuff!!!! I’m grateful one of the forum members here suggested them !!!

If you think they did a good job thank his Dad!
I've dealt with them for quite some time...typically buying engines for replacement on Toro turf equipment. They were always the best price, and free shipping, no tax.
The old man knew his stuff.
