Here's a saw I picked up a couple of years ago. It was locked up and rough looking........I think I gave 35.00 for it. Thanks to several members here we got it running and even found a NOS .404 28" bar for it. DSS sent me some bits that I needed all the way from Canada!!!!

Here's what it looked like with the new bar.

Sorta rough looking ain't it? The good thing is that it runs like a new saw. :)

I built a Stihl 041 Super for AS member Glock37 and he and I have since become good friends. The powder coating that was done on his saw was perfect and I have been wanting to do this Pioneer ever since.

Here's a shot of his Stihl.....

He had just done the case and rear handle at this point........he has since done the whole saw. It would be nice to see the completed project...hint...hint. :)

Anyhow, we were asked by another member to do a Husqvarna 2100 so we tore that saw and the old Pioneer down and sent them to Mike for powder coating.

The 2100 is back together and we are testing it before port work....here's a shot of it.

Watch for a thread on this build......I'll post it when the saw is completed.

Here's the Pioneer after powder coating as Jon is assembling it. He really does a fantastic job on these things.

Sugar Creek Supply was our source for the decals....

We got lucky and found a complete set of gaskets and seals.

Real nice Randy,..I remember taking them out of their boxes back at the Pioneer dealers in the early 80`s and they didn`t look any better than yours does now, they almost always had some paint missing even right out of the box.

The paint does seem right fragile on those saws Jerry. This powder should be there awhile.

Randy, looks great. Did you do any port work on it before you restored it? BTW, it'll never run right with that Stihl starter cord on it.

It's totally stock right now. I'll looking into some carbon fiber reeds for it....then maybe we'll do some port work on it.

Yeah I don't really care for the Stihl recoil handle either.........Jon's looking for an original.

That is simply beautiful, Randy. How are the mating surfaces on the case halves and bearing bores kept bare?

High temp tape is what Mike said they used. Jon did block sand the mating surfaces as well though.

Thats saw is Awesome looking Randy glad i could help you on this !

That 2100 is really Cool looking together the way i remember it was in about 10 pieces !

Awesome is all you can say about both of them !

Powder coating is def. the way to go on restos especially if they are to be run any amount. I have done some restos with paint just to keep them closer to original but those ones won`t be run while I own them.

I love the restoration -- the powder coat is a dream for those of us who want to do it up right. Thanks for posting man. This saw looks fine! :msp_thumbsup:Count me in I'm subscribed.

That looks beautiful Randy and Mike!!!:msp_thumbup: I have an old Remington that I might be contacting Mike about, this might get me going on that one!!!

Thanks so very much for doing such a great job on the powder. I plan on running this saw at GTGs and stuff, it's a fine thing not having to worry about the paint getting scratched up.
