Worked great until I got to the tunnel
I had plans for that contraption before I could drive. I was going to do it, but lacked the parts or means to get them. My folks weren't particularly helpful.

Maybe they knew about the RR police. Here is another contraption they don't allow:

Last I knew there was still a town in the Adirondacks you could only get to by rail.

Rail Explorers has 3 different venues around the country. There is one near me in the Catskill Mtns... I rode it when it first opened as part of a tourism advocacy group. The bikes are a "sit down and pedal with your feet" style. Lots of fun... enough in fact that I'm hoping to build my own rail bike to use the same rail corridor... I can pick it up about a quarter mile from my house.

Except for their own trucks which have a similar set up. The trucks have hinged steel rail wheels front & rear.

Rail Explorers used to operate in the Adirondacks but pulled out due to conflicts with NYS and a railroad... they relocated to the Catskills. A new company is operating in the Adirondacks but I have no information on them beyond their web site. Revolution Rail Co https://www.revrail.com/

Same goes for Adirondack Scenic Rail Bike Adventures https://adirondackscenicrailbikes.com/

Tiny clump of ??

Comes up every spring and I mow around them. Purdy.

Sticks are 1/4” for scale.

What are they?

Now, back to our regular T&A.

Yup - Grape Hyacinth. A rather hardy little plant and quite pretty. We have loads of them.

About as pretty as this weird hummingbird which (I'm sure) is not to be found on North America.

Money has moved in.
Locals can’t afford to live in the towns they work in sometimes.
