Squish Measurement

Please tell me how to measure squish

Lots of threads and vids on it....basically take out the spark plug, stick some thin solder in with the piston down. Get the solder to the cylinder wall and turn the engine over, with the cord or flywheel. Then measure with calipers. Try doing it in several positions around the cylinder to get a more accurate reading. I'm just a newbie, so maybe others with more experience will chime in...
