claims it runs great, i only have the pics he’s sent. haven’t seen it in person. where’s the choke lever located?
It is the most common thing to break or lose on the saw, and very hard to find new, as well as the oiler gear. I cannot tell from your pics if the choke lever is still there and working.

I bought mine for $100 cash and a couple of beers. It needed a new fuel line and a clean up. That was about it. Recently I changed it from 1/4" pitch .043" gauge to 3/8" pitch 0.050" gauge. I'm surprised that it still runs as well as it does. Likely it was a shelf queen most of the time:

Where did you find the sprocket and oiler gear at? Has someone started making them?

As I recall, I found both at a local lawnmower shop by some miracle:
1116 640 2001 - Chain sprocket 3/8" Picco
1116 647 1801 - Spur Gear
The 1/4" pitch spur gear that was in there collapsed into pieces. These saws are rather ancient.

Father-in-law just gifted me his pride and joy. An original Stihl 015 in running order. Has wear in the chain guides on the bar but runs and cuts well for a nearly 50 year old machine. It has wirked hard in that time and cut down stuff way too big for it (Australian gums/eucalypts tend to be rather hard and like metal when dry - so a bit of wear was inevitable). I don't know how much more work it will get in it's lifetime but it's a "nice to have" old tool.

It was a nice little saw. But, to think about buying one, unless it's for a collection, isn't a good idea. Parts are hard to come by which makes the chances of getting gouged fairly high.
I feel a $2.00 part is worth $2.00. Some would disagree.

Went to get a few parts for my grandpa's 015, came back home with the rest. I'm hoping to get one or two running after my grandpa's. One will be my son's first saw, the second for fun.
