Stihl 028 running problem

Anyone ever have a issue with these air filters?set at stock 1 1/4 turns on the high side runs very rich.i tried leaning at little no good.pull the air filter off and run it stock setting runs excellent.seems to be spraying a decent amount of fuel out the carb.maybe needs rebuilt? idles excellent with it with out the air filter.

That airfilter is shot and your piston likely is as well.

I just rebuilt it with meteor piston and rings.lol

Yes about the air filters on a 028.

If any of my 028's starts running little rough and not idling good, instead of grabbing a screwdriver and dicking with the carb jets, I just clean the air filter with compressed air and good to go. Seems some wood is more prone to restrict the filter.
