I got the saw a year and a half ago and rebuilt the carb and put in everything new from tank to carb. It ran perfectly then. Now when I start it, it only runs for a second and then dies. If I take the air filter off, it does spit some fuel out. I read in other posts that it could be metering of the fuel in the carb. However, that seems weird since it ran when I put it up. Or could it be that sitting for so long gummed up the inside of the carb? Any suggestions of where to start? I really hate the idea of having to re-do the carb when I haven't even gotten much use out of it. Thanks in advance!

Modern fuel turns to **** in a month or two.
Take off the carb, take it apart and clean it.
While off, peek at the piston through the intake boot.

Yes, I did.
I would have thought, that would have been enough.
But, I agree with Harley that cleaning the carb would be a good place to start.

Oil seals, really anything rubberized on the saw could dry out in that time, depending on the storage conditions. I'd say a pressure/vacuum test would not be out of line.
I've moved to non ethanol for this exact reason.
