I bought this saw and was going to hold onto it, but plans have changed, it is a 10mm and it runs strong, cylinder looks great, plastics are a little dirty but overall in descent shape, saw will come with the 20" bar and chain pictured, according to the serial this saw was probably near the end of the 10mm run. Any questions PM me and I will answer as quickly as possible. Asking $475.00 plus shipping.

Compression is at 150lbs, that is at 3200 ft above sea level, so that would be 175lbs to 180lbs at sea level.

I think your saw was built with a 12mm wrist pin. I've heard various serial numbers on this forum, but in my 2013 version of mediaCAT it says that the 10mm to 12mm wrist pin change started with machine number X29 382 283. Unless I'm reading it incorrectly it looks like the s/n of your saw is 129 382 409. Also, I've always understood the transition to perpendicular top cylinder fins (from angled) occurred after the change to a 12mm wrist pin.

I have a friend that has an early 12mm saw that he purchased new, and it does have the angled fin cylinder, and runs like an raped ape. I have the serial # written down at home and can provide it if desired. I believe that there are a few early 12mm 044's that have the best of both, coming from the factory with the 12mm wrist pin, and the more desirable cylinder. His also has the gap between the air filter cover and base, which seems to be common to the 10mm saws.

Ok. Sorry I was going by the number that mustang Mike had provided in a search I did on here. I am open to offers.

It looks like a solid saw and I don't personally think your price is off, regardless of the wrist pin diameter. I was just trying to clarify things. I'm no expert, but I certainly don't think the average saw owner would know or care about the subtle differences between the versions...

Good luck with the sale.

So confusing on these saws im probably gonna open a can of worms i got one i aquired the other day that serial is a 127 654 168 it had an after market cylinder and piston in it as well as a crank aftermarket that was 12 mm i heard that serial number prior too 125454553 were 10 mm cases and cranks wich supposedly had the 4 mm screws after this number and to number 129583701 were 12 cases 10 cranks after the 129583701 were 12 cases 12 cranks i have a saw with serial 129383074 with an angle fin mahle cylinder i will check wrist pin on crank in a week or so when i take cylinder off to swap it with a ported ks cylinder and update then either way they are great saws and u have a good price on it good luck

Yes the piston and cylinder in this 1 are as nice as they come, regardless of it being a 12mm or 10mm.$425.00 is a fair price I think. I can get better pics of saw outside if anyone would like, it was raining when I took these indoors in poor light. It is really a nice saw.

I agree honestly i think there is no diff. In performance on the crank side the power comes from the cylinder if u have old school top end on saw its gonna run good if i didnt have to maney irons in fire id be interested

Dont give it away. Its slow right now sept oct it will sell when firewood season comes why u getting rid of it anyway liiks like u are a husky guy huh

Yeah my dad was always stihl guy, was going to give it to him, but he sold his 461 cause he getting older and the weight. So I prefer my 359 and 346's. Still think the 346 is best saw for me. I had 2 044s sold 1 couple weeks ago, it was 12mm, decided to keep the 1 I thought was 10mm and sleep on it, but I found another 346 so I would like to get it.

If u put an angle fin cylinder on that saw with a set of rings regardles 12 or 10 it would change your mind bro

Just like the weight of the 346xp, I just cut firewood most stuff is less then 12 inch diameter, but if it dnt bring the money I may just try it, only downside is that stihl is way more for P&C then husqvarna, plus this 1 is really nice already.

U have to buy it used not made any more i just looked there is one on ebay for 75 a mahle angle fin get a set of caber rings for less then 10 bucks and ride that saw will give a 372 a run for its money
