In pine or doug fir, running a 28~32" bar and full skip chain, should I be running a 7 or 8 pin sprocket on a Stihl 046 Magnum?

How much can you change the sprocket before the chain length has to be changed? Or is there enough adjustment in the bar to cover 7T to 9T with the same chain.

I'm going to say 7 when it comes to a 70cc saw pulling longer bars.

I run a 8 pin on my 441 when I run a 20in bar.

Usually not, but 7 and 8 usually is no problem, and I don't think it is a coincidence.

I have a 046 magnum and run a 8 pin on a 32” and this is in hard wood no problem do you should define fine with a 8 pin if not 9 pin
