Amoungst My Saws........Fool That Has Too Many!!!
So........I have this 046 to work on. The owner bought it with some new parts and a big bore kit. He gave it to me because it won't start. Compression is good........but the timing seems to be an issue. Putting the piston at TDC the magnets on the flywheel are about 90 degrees off (advanced or retarded I don't know). The flywheel is matched with the keyway. Is it possible that the wrong crank or flywheel is being used here? If so.......how do I go about getting this timed correctly?

Sounds to me like the flywheel key is sheared. Remove the flywheel and check. If sheared, replace the key, and this time tighten the heck out of that nut. I use a 12" pipe to extend the socket's leverage. The key does almost nothing to help hold the wheel secure to the shaft. It only aligns it. Some guys don't even replace the key. They just align with it and tighten the heck out of that nut (about 21 ft-lb).
