I recently aquired a Stihl 064. I don't know which Stihl air filter fits the saw. I have purchased a used air filter support (part # 1122 1243 400 112) pictured here which I thought belongs to this saw and it seems to fit. I would ask for a picture of the actual OEM air filter that is necessary to fit the saw with this air filter support. If there is an air filter I can use on thEbay guide me to it. Let me know if you see anything amiss from the pictures I have supplied.

Yeah thats the basic air filter set up for an 064. Same set up on mine that I'm trying to get rid of. Its a tight squeeze in the shroud. But it will fit in there.

Do you have a part number available for the air filter for my saw or a picture you can provide of same? Why do you want to get rid of your assembly?

That looks like the older, non-HD filter base. I'd be wanting the HD filter system.

Looks as though you are missing the metal Baffles (1122 120 4101 & 1122 121 7000) that goes under the filter also?

My air filter support is not pictured in the IPL provided above. The IPL pictured is for HD air filter setups so I don't think the the metal baffles apply to my non HD filter setup.

#14 in the IPL that I posted.

I have one of those air filters and it doesn't fit my air filter support. I think there must be another IPL for the stihl 064 early version saws.

Well, Almondgt, I'm stumped. Only info I could find on your filter base # is that there is currently one on ebay advertised to fit an 066. But -- that part # does not show up in my 066 ipl's, either. :bang:

You need someone with the latest Stihl computer database to run the numbers.

Looks as though the original owner sold the HD air filter assembly that was on the saw separately?

When I get home I will try to take a few pics of my Non-HD 064 air filter.

I think back plate in almondgt pictures is the early type.
And from what I know it lets non-filted air come in from carb box.

Then Stihl changed the back plate to #10 as shown in mtngun picture.
#10 back plate is what I have on one of my 064's orther have HD set-up.

Yes your backing plate is the NON HD filter set up. Im working on getting all my old accounts re activated so I can post pictures on here. I should be about an hour or so. Kind of have to work around interviews today. Hiring for this summers fire supression crew. :blob2:

almondgt,

I may be wrong, but IMO I would not like the type of back plate you have.
The later flat filter and the HD filter pull air threw filter and into carb.
The type you have looks to pull air threw the filter and then threw
the back plate into the carb. With this type unless the carb box
is sealed, you carb can suck dirty air into carb.

I agree the old style filtration system I am working with is substandard. The air filter support goes in tight into the carb support but I did notice a possibility of contamination entering at the rubber plug on the right side that surrounds the H and L carb screws. The carb box was probably reasonably tight when the 064saws were new. As well, it is on my mind that the top end of the saw could be in jeopardy if I don't seal the air box well enough. I am still interested in utilizing the old system just to see how well I like running the saw. Census is the Stihl 064 is a well liked saw. I feel this could be a very informational post for other Stihl 064 owners if the air filter components could be viewed from each different style of 064 that is out there. Up to the public to participate I suppose. mile9socounty has the right idea and his contribution to this post is noted and appreciated.
