Purchased this clutch on the bay for my Stihl 064 and found the clutch to have an odd wear up the center to the outer shoes. I want to install a new drum and rim and not sure if the clutch is/will be an issue.

Wear in the center of the clutch shoes can have a couple of causes- the most common being that the motor was under a very heavy load for extended periods, such as with saw-milling. Another is when a user runs a saw at part throttle a lot of the time. You should be okay with running that clutch, although I'd give the shoes a light sanding to help with grip.

This clutch must have been actuating on the center area of the clutch shoes and not the 2 outer sides for a long time. The center is shiney and the outer sides are dull. I will be installing the clutch today and will make a few cuts to see if it will function like it should.

Most likely the clutch will function fine, although it could have trouble under a heavy load again, such as milling. Another thing I've seen that can cause that kind of wear is running a cracked or severely worn clutch drum for a long time.
