The winter filter is a nylon mesh type vs the traditional flocked fleece type.
Winter on the left, which is the one for sale and regular filter on the left. The winter filter came off a German built saw sold in Malaysia as that's what they are sold with overseas.
Resists snow/ice buildup and flows a bit more air. I have ran them at times during the summer and they work ok. Although the fleece style is suppose to filter a bit better.
Maybe it would be better named a jungle filter if it is used in Malaysia (near the Equator), flowing more air for low density warm weather? Anyway, all that matters is that it flows better, so it's an upgrade for sure.
They are called winter filters because that's what the arctic models come with as sold in the US. Why the sell saws in Malaysia with winter filters is beyond me.
They flow more air and I run them on my own saws, excellent for ported saws.
