Thinking of putting a 30" bar with 3/8 chisel skip tooth chain on my stock Husqvarna 372XP.
Is 30" too long for this saw?

It will run a 30" bar, just do not say your going to be milling with it.

Depends what you are cutting with that setup. So, what are you cutting?

Yes. It will be slow in hardwood, but it will do it. It will do well in softwood.

Mine worked in pecan with a 32" but you couldn't force it. Just let gravity work

You should be more concerned about how well it will oil. A 372 can do well on a 28, but a 32 is pushing it. In soft wood it will fair better, in hard wood it's really at it's limit.

The 372 oils bars out to 36 adequately if you run the oiler wide open. For 30 I’d probably go 4.5-5 out on the adjustment for the oiler.

I always run my oilers maxed on any saw. Bar oil is cheaper than a new bar and chain. Will run a 30" no problem hard wood or soft. I run 32" on mine with just a mm and carb limiters removed. I still consider it stock.

Cottonwood will be fine with that. Elm, eh, that setup wouldn’t be my first choice for burying 30” of bar in elm.

I was just on the Husqvarna website and they have 32" in the options menu, so as far as I'm concerned if they offer it then it must be okay to use.
